These clinical guidelines provide indications for use, contraindications, suggested uses, interventions and more.In the midst of a catastrophic weather event involving power outages, the non-powered WAFFLE Overlay protects the clinician and patient during transfers and/or evacuations.Product bundles including the WAFFLE Extended Care Cushion provided effective interventions for at-risk patients.Upon implementing the WAFFLE Cushion along with a sacral dressing, there were zero pressure injuries identified in the cardiac surgery population within the eight month trial period. After revising the standard of care, HAPIs in the posterior pelvic area decreased by 74% in 2021 and an additional 63% in 2022.By incorporating the WAFFLE Overlay hospital-wide, the team at Indiana University Health West Hospital achieved its study goals with a decrease in both low air loss rental bed LAL expenditures and HAPU prevalence.
