We know—cupcakes aren’t the answer to any of life’s looming problems, but they sure do brighten people’s day.

Working in an Emergency Room can be stressful. Add in a global pandemic, and it skyrockets to a whole new level. While doctors and nurses put in long, tiring hours taking care of patients, the team at EHOB wanted to do something to take care of them. So we asked ourselves: what would make us feel appreciated and bring us joy in the midst of a busy, stressful day?

Cupcakes. Lots and lots of cupcakes!

We know—cupcakes aren’t the answer to any of life’s looming problems, but they sure do brighten people’s day. That’s all we wanted to do when we headed to St. Vincent Hospital to deliver a huge load of frosted cupcakes to the good folks working the ER. Our only goal was to show our support and appreciation for their hard work, this year more than ever. Emergency Physician Louis Profeta said it was just the thing “an overworked doctor or nurse needs to temper the misery of caring for a continued stream of patients dying of COVID-19.” (READ MORE)

As the pandemic stretches out month by month, our appreciation for our healthcare heroes continues to deepen. They aren’t fighting an easy battle, and even the smallest acts of kindness can help to ease their burden.
